Elvis hired Mike back in the 60's to work with the horses on the Circle G ranch. Mike at the time was a blacksmith and did custom leatherwork, the easygoing Mississippi cowboy fit right in. They became friends and for several years Mike and his family lived at Graceland where he made saddles, concert belts, holsters and leather suits for Elvis. When Mike began to design and make jewelry, Elvis was one of his first customers. The unique style was well suited to Elvis and he liked it. The word spread and the jewelry and leather business thrived.

In 1976 Mike returned home to build his shop, one which reflected his character and his values. Among the customers and friends who enjoyed his creations were Johnny Cash, Mark Collie, Felton Jarvis, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Priscilla Presley, Jim Weatherly and, of course, Elvis. Chances are good you've seen Mike's work in concerts, on television, or in movies.

A bond of friendship developed between Mike and the fans after Elvis' death. He often participated in their charitable activities and always said they were some of the best people in the world.
